Have I mentioned that, despite (or because of?) my medical background, I make a really lousy patient?

Today I figured my allergies were really acting up, big time.  Perhaps the sweater I put on last night, that I hadn't worn in a while, had too much accumulated dust, or something.  Anyway, I spent the day sneezing, blowing my nose, and having red blurry watery itchy eyes.

When I got home around 5:00, I decided enough was enough.  Tactic One: huge load of vitamin C.  Result one: nothing noticeable.  I hate being sick.  This problem needs to leave, immediately.  An hour or so later, I moved on to Tactic Two: benadryl.  Result two: nothing noticeable.  Then Tactic Three: cold care formula (I still thought I had allergies, but figured this really foul tasting formula of mine would at least tackle the congestion).  Result three: nothing noticeable.

Having finally moved on from Dx 1 (allergies) to Dx 2 (nasty head cold), I mentally apologized to everyone I've sneezed on today.  An early night would be good, but first I have to finish up Tactic four: a hot toddy.

(Spoonful of clover honey, juice of 1/2 lemon, hot water, and a very generous shot of 10-yr-old Glenmorangie.  The 18-yr-old is to die for - my brother in law once gave me some - but I wasn't feeling like money bags that time I was in the liquor store.)

Hm.  I'm about a third of the way through the hot toddy, and most of the congestion is actually gone.  How miraculous.  I must try this remedy more often.  Now if it'll tackle the headache, I'll be off to bed any minute.
