I'm sitting inside with the fan on the basement steps, tilted up toward the living room, on 'high.' This is known as poor-man's (or Vermonter's) air conditioning. Outside, it's 90F. For 10:45 am in the hills of VT, this is really much too hot. Inside we're at 80F. This does not bode well for the afternoon. I might need to spend the day cleaning the basement. Or set up a bed down there and take a long nap. Or go to the pond for another swim (was there it 8 am - bliss!)

It's bright, sunny, hot, and calm. I was outside a half hour ago, watering the ducks. They enjoyed it. I hope they're finding a nice cool spot to hang out, and I'm not sure why they're not down at the pond with their sister (who I suspect hangs out down there on a hidden nest - something to figure out about before the dogs of BoN arrive).

With the bright sun, clear blue skies, and only a mild breeze, it's hard to imagine that we're due for severe thunderstorms, hail, and possible tornadoes (here??) in the next few hours. It's especially hard to imagine because for the past several weeks they've been predicting rain and/or thunderstorms, and it's almost never panned out. We had a half an inch of drizzle about four days ago, but that's it. Kinda parched around here (fsvo 'parched' that have no comparison with more desert-like environments).

I'll be glad of the storm. If it comes. I hope the chickens have the wit to hide in the hen coop. I'll give you an update on the storm if my little house doesn't end up in Oz (undoubtedly beyond even dial-up access).

Yikes that's as bad as here in the steamy south. At 11 am we're at 91 and 56% humidity. But of course I have an air conditioner and don't hesitate to use it.

I hope we both get rain.

They've postponed the storm. Now it's some time before 1 am. And they've taken tornadoes off the list. Drat. Severe thunderstorms with possible large hail, though, so that's something. I'll let you know how hard the artillery hits are later.
