Hah!! Power.
Got back power at 7:05 pm.  Only 139.5 hours after it went off.  That was easy.

Well, actually, it was a helluva lot of work, I'm wiped, and I'm heading off to bed shortly.

But it was also a whole lot of fun.

There are still houses in this town without power, I'm sure, and the town directly South is even harder hit than we are, I think.  But hopefully most of our town's residences will have power within the next 24 hours.  Then I'll check out our neighboring town and see if they need any help.

But first, sleep.  And then, a break! - going to have breakfast with lorres , where I will be out of range of the pager.

How are y'all?  Anyone in my neck of the woods without power?  (Do post, with your gas-powered computer.)

Very jealous about breakfast, I am.

When are we all getting together again?

re: Hah!! Power.
Breakfast was good.

We should schedule something asap. Early Jan? Lorres was going to look into it. Nor-H? I have Too Much Yarn, so I need to go to Webb's..... And sitting around in a restaurant with great company is even better, so let's definitely do that. :)

Hurrah! I wonder how many people were startled by appliances that they had left on all this time.

Latest news here: thanks to thaw and freeze, most of the 6-8 inches of fresh snow on the driveway is underlain by half an inch of black ice, which front-wheel drive does not hack. Just a touch embarrassing to start sliding backwards toward the house while ostensibly taking C to daycare.

(Oh, and just for amusement, the spell-checker flagged "Hurrah!" when I previewed this post. It suggested, among others, Hurry, Howrah, Hera, Herr, Hora, Sirrah, Uriah, Harry, Farrah, Karrah, Murray, Tarrah, Harrie, Harrow, Hooray, and Horror. All of which would have made for rather different commentary.)

Fortunately, our ice melted, so tomorrow's 10" snow won't have an ice-rink for a base. Not that that prevented a rollover an hour or so ago. But it's been quiet enough, all things considered. Knock wood. Now if I can just get caught up with all my email and other online stuff....

Welcome back to the grid!

Thanks! I did pretty well without... although I have to admit I spent some time every day online at the firehouse or the college. These addictions are hard to break.
