Weekends :)
Had a great weekend, although I am suffering from the typical PBW, what with Lorre and the Peeg well on their way.  We had a lot of fun decorating white sugar skulls for dia de los muertos.  We ate a lot of great food (of course).  I made my dad's recipe for Jack Hammers (how can you go wrong with apple jack, lemon juice and maple syrup?) and we got slightly teepsy.  And, of course, we did some knitting.

After they had left with the Frabjous skeins of their choice, I couldn't resist keeping eight more for myself: two somewhat varigated bright blue silks, two of the shocking bright/dark blue/purple (hm - not on that page - but it doesn't do justice to the brilliant colors anyway), two of the very crazy dark multi-colored skeins ("Katmandu", on the first web site above, but mine are darker with much less red and more of a spectrum), and two of the same but with an extra softening wash (they're also slightly greener and a very little bit subtler).  I'd show you actual pictures, but haven't gotten good at posting them yet (except the userpic thing).

I hope the rest of you had a great weekend.  Enjoy your extra hour!

I LOVE your userpic.
the face is so quirky and thoughtful, even mischievous.

--I think i'll be over soon to return your mug, but I told myself I'd finish this anthropology paper first. Obviously, I'm doing a fantastic job staying on track. O_o

re: Weekends :)
Wait - I thought I just washed that mug. Must have been a different one.

The userpic is one of the sugar skulls I painted. He has a beard, and if he weren't turning his head to the side, you'd see that he was smoking a pipe. I only used it temporarily.... Hm. Perhaps I should look around for another userpic or two.

Good luck on the paper, and don't worry about the mug until it's convenient. You don't happen to have one of my cookie sheets, and/or the glass measuring cup that does about 6 ounces, do you? (The one S. always used to mix drinks in.) Just curious. Was mixing a drink last night for the first time in ages.

sugar skulls
Where did you get them? Or did you make them yourself? Pretty cool!

Re: sugar skulls
We made them. L. had a recipe for the sugar plus stuff, and a bunch of little molds. It was really cool.

Damn the extra hour!

C had a wonderful time dressed up as a witch, and last night one of his preschool friends' parents had a party complete with bonfire and fireworks. Nice way to celebrate the passing of a season.

re: Weekends :)
Witches and fireworks and bonfires are exceptionally good things.

I did not have a great weekend and I missed seeing all of you, but I did have a productive weekend and I needed that. DWH and I cleaned off a lot of flat surfaces (although there are still some remaining to be cleaned) and I got a handle on my workload for this week, so I'll start tomorrow organized. Got a bunch of my knitting projects organized and prioritized also. Do wish I could have headed to VT, but I never felt well enough to really attempt it.

I did go walking with my friend N. this morning and almost turned around while driving over. She kindly let me set the pace, though and I felt better after the walk. Gotta schedule a massage, since I'm sure a major factor in this is the collection of knots in my shoulders.

re: Weekends :)
I'm really sorry you couldn't make it, and that you were feeling so bad. I'm glad some good came of the weekend, though, and we will just have to do it again. (And again, and again.)

Tomorrow is going to be my organizing day. I hope I actually get something accomplished, because I certainly haven't done much of anything "work" like since Friday.

About the extra hour -- I am not joking when I say this is literally my favorite holiday of the year. (When I have extra time to do work -- it totally counts as a holiday.)

re: Weekends :)
The interesting thing about that extra hour? I seem to get it repeatedly, for several days or even into a few weeks. Not every day, but it seems to keep popping up. I'm not going to question the physics of it all.
